I am working out the plans for my CNC with an 18&amp;quot; sq bed. The bed stays still and the gantry travels front to back, and up and down. The tool head(s) move side to side. I plan on having multiple heads; Router, 3d print head, and laser engraver. Since the bed never moves calibration is easier. about 2 years ago I when to the Large Adivtive Show (here in Fort Worth) where I saw an air-operated tool changer. &lt;a class="jive-link-external-small" href="https://www.cnccookbook.com/shopmade-air-powered-5c-collet-chuck-haas-tl1/" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" target="_blank"&gt;This is one example,&lt;/a&gt; another would be the &lt;em&gt;&lt;a class="jive-link-external-small" href="https://www.mmsonline.com/blog/post/the-humble-pull-stud" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" target="_blank"&gt;pull stud&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt; which most CNC tooling uses. but it&amp;#39;s not really what I want. Think of this you have a plate (male)&amp;nbsp; with two dowels pins and two more bolts another plate with the same geometry, with holes (female or receiver) with the tool mounted to it.
