Is Enviro HAT working for you reliably?

Hello,

I am having issues with Enviro HAT humidity and temperature sensors. I wonder if mine is defected or if I am missing something on how to use it. It is not snapped on Raspberry PI but connected by jumper wires.

1) The first humidity reading is often (not always) more than 90, the second and so on drops down to 30-40

2) In the same room 2 minutes apart humidity value can change up to 15 points. For example, first reading - 42, second - 27

3) Temperature value drops much below real value if humidity grows. For example, in the same room with 22C/40% humidity, if humidifier is running, next reading it 10 minutes will show 16C/55% humidity

Do you have any idea why?

Hi everyone ! Hope to find you all well !

Since everyone will be using the Automation HAT mini, Pimoroni, in their blog, have a wonderful post about the Hat, written by Tanya Fish.

Just head to https://blog.pimoroni.com/automation-hat-tanya-teardown/ and read. Everything you need to know about the HAT workings and what does every output, input and relay do and how to work with them.

The post isn't really about the mini, but still applies.

They also have a getting started tutorial, but the blog post is better and more detailed (IMHO).

JUST A SIDE NOTE: After reading the post, I got confused if the relay and the output wouldn't be the same thing. In a very short explanation: they are, in a sense, but the relay really cuts all the power (no electricity flowing) and the outputs still leave a bit of electricity flowing even if "turned off".

Is it necessary to publish the blogs in Design Challenge>1meterof Pi Space for sponsored challengers?

Hi e14phil, I have published my first entry of the Blogs in my own Blog Space with tag 1 Meter of Pi . But I see that you have created all the challengers a separate Author Space.

Am I supposed to publish all the blogs there and re-publish the already published one?

I’m a challenger for 1 Meter of Pi, I’ve been designing a lightning system for the plants, however, I realize that the LEDs would require 5A total of current, so I split them into 5 parts, for 1A per section. This still is too much for an arduino pin to handle- at most they can handle one or two, while each had 5.

I’ve considered using multiple pins and boards but my friend says that would likely overload the regulators and fry the chip, or damage.

He said using buck converters, and MOSFETs, would be an ideal solution.

can someone please eleaborate on this part, like a bit of conceptual explanation, and/or other ideas? Thanks!

I'm new to this group and wondered if anyone in the group can answer some of my questions.

is there any decision on the enrollment of This design challenge and if I qualify for the hardware?

Applications Close (about 1 Month)	14th September 2020
Challengers Announced	16th September 2020

Selection was suppose to be on or around August 21? It is now September 20th!!!!!

I filled out my application back in August 24, and have not heard anything?

It would be nice if you informed the applicants that took the time to apply, the status of there submission to the road test. Please let me know either way so I can proceed with Other projects.

I applied for the 1 metre of Pi challenge and filled the whole application form for applying for it. When I submitted my application form, Its still showing in the draft. please help me in this regard. i have worked a lot for this and I really wanted to participate in this challenge. My application is not submitted. Please help me. I can also send the draft of the application over mail.

I know someone who is willing to work with me for this project but we live in different places. If you team up how will the hardware dist. work, will both people get the kit, or will it be like one person does hands on, the other person provides advice and stuff?

Concern about hardware use

Can you use external hardware such as another Raspberry Pi or arduino? I think it would be beneficial to use 2 Raspberry Pi's at a time.
