Great project!

I've worried for several years now that my 90 year old mother would forget her medication, or get confused about what she was supposed to be taking.

Now that she is resident in a care facility, she is no longer responsible for remembering to take her own medication - she has it doled out to her at the appropriate times, by a carer, who make sure that she takes it.

I hope this works well for your Grandma.

The pill detecting method works surprising well, it will be interesting to see if there is any drifting with time or possibly the impact of ambient light. I was thinking that maybe you could just put a light detector on the bottom of each compartment and then use ambient/external light to provide the light part. It wouldn't work in the dark though but I guess you do not normally take pills in the dark and it is possible that ambient light might vary too much to be reliable.

Hi, I love the project.

Maybe I would have approached it differently. Likewise, putting the sensors on the lid with piezoelectric sensors so that if there are pills or medicines when closing or opening the lid, the status will be recorded. Or scan from the lid from left to right with three sensors that move with a sliding closing or opening movement avoiding a motor to scan.

Well thought our feature set. Nice job so far.

I don't know anything about taking medication but wonder if it would make sense to have a separate lid for each day, so it could alarm if the wrong lid was opened, or even lock future days' lids?

Nice job! I would have a hard time making something like this without adding all sorts of buttons and the like. Then make my 96 year old grandma write her own Cronjobs to check it.
