Note that both the woodwork and 3D printed designs have changed already, so I'll likely re-draw/publish later in the project once things have stabilised on that front. I built a little coping saw table from some scrap wood and laminate flooring to help with sawing the slots.

the sapling would flex rather than causing the servo or mechanism to break.

RC cars often use a servo saver.

It consists of a 330 ish deg circle that joins the 'drive' and the 'driven' part.

If for any reason the 'driven' part tries to force the servo (ie hitting a curb at high speed) the servo saver simply opens up and no damage.

This idea might work if it was quite weak.

Funny how they are plastic ... are you sure Cel is a blacksmith and not farming it out to some cheap alternative labour source??

Maybe Cel isn't an alchemist
