Annoyingly I checked the main power cable yesterday and I'd soldered the cables too far into the sockets so that the sockets would not push down onto the pins. Out of 8 wires, 2 need completely re-doing, 3 need one end fixing and the others are ok. Also a subtle change to the wiring in that the power in needs to connect up to VIn and not Vss so a bit of re-soldering is needed.

Nice Blog,

I remember I had a job bending tubing back in Tech School. We had to build special fixtures to make bends so that the metal tubing was not compromised during the bend or flattened.

It turned out to be more complicated than it looked, but once you got the hang of it, it was fairly easy to make good bends.

Me too I am very interested. In some cases to make part of the cases it is the worth to model them with Aluminium bound as you explain there due to the thickness, instead of milling all the box parts.

Very nice! I will test the method soon.

(Frankly I have always though that it was possible in line of principle, but only with a constant pressure with a specialised machine)

Really interesting the theory behind metal bending!

I think I should have a look at Engineering Workshop Practice 1956 volume III...
