Here's another alternative module to the Yún, it's based around the same Wifi module, the AR9331 so would have the a similar power consumption but without all the level shifters.

I knew I'd forgotten something.... The stainless steel sheet used by the battery box. I bought that for £5 at a model engineering show at Sandown race course last Christmas. Used about 50p worth.

Nice breakdown.

You haven't added a time estimate for a 'production' type version.

Obviously there was a significant amount of time developing this, and if it was a business venture then recouping it in the sales would be needed.

Great post, it shows people how to estimate their costs and do a bill of materials at the same time.

Nice breakdown. It's good to see how much the project ended up costing and how this can be improved.

If it remains too costly, people will be less likely to try and reproduce interesting projects like this one.
