Actually, for a minimalist device, it is fully functional.

Binary is where it all starts for computers. Everything else is just a variation.

This one reminded me of an event long ago:

I was working in a job where they had mainframe run but operators that were young. Since they worked with printers and things, they would occasionally have a broken one. One day a manager of a unrelated department walks in the large area and asks what was wrong with the printer in the corner of the room. Without a pause, the operator walks up to the machine and pulls out a connection of the data cable and puts it in one ear. After a long bit, he says "Come here and listen". The manager walks up doing the same thing and replies "I hear nothing". Where upon he answers "that is the problem"! Needles to say he had an unpleasant visit with his manager the same day.
