Hi Victor,

Your post identified a key component about energy harvesting that I think all of the testers should address, namely, how do you store collected energy for later use.

Most of the post so far have addressed all of the devices you can power with alternative energy, but to be useable, we need all of the collected energy, or at least a portion of it, to be available on demand at a later time.

From what I have seen from the posts, most of the generation ideas are centered around short duration events. When you look at the many "green" energy sources, they are likewise intermittent events.

So to make these collections useful, I think you should also look at energy storage technologies.

Hi Victor,

nice to read your thoughts on energy harvesting for bicycle lights.

In my roadtest application I also refered to the Netherlands as a cycling country, and my application was a bike computer, which is easily doable using energy harvesting, but unfortunately it was not selected for the roadtest.

I'm riding a velomobiel, with a large temperature difference between me and the outside world, which is a good start for the peltier approach. But whether this will produce enough energy for a headlight is questionable.

I'm very interested in your progress, and will follow your blog.
