Yeah I normally have a foam mat wrapped around but wanted to connect up device so went back to the blankets I had before.

Yeah the added value for me in brew stage is little as I have an electric element and can use it inside until I get in to much trouble for the mess it makes. My friends and others though have to brew outside with propane gas so don't always have easy access to power points and they also thing it is a bit crazy to move so much water around 240V power cables people and their safety standards. Then in fermentation stage I have everything kept in a cupboard covered in insulation so would like something wireless just need to see if I can get enough power from fermenting heat and CO2 blow off to do that maybe pole the specific gravity once a day to see if fermenting is done.

The plant wall is something that could benefit more people as I've noticed a lot of balconies here in Australia don't have powerpoints and people aren't great at remembering to watering plants.

I've been thinking about your design; what would be the added value of energy harvesting in this setup? It looks like you already have a lot of power available in the form of a mains cord. Would this design also be used when mains is switched off, or..?

Hi Sean,

Have you thought about wrapping the pot with some insulation? A good fiberglass bat would help slow the temperature loss to the air from the metal pot skin.
