I enjoy many of the activities that I find on the Element14 Community, I also participate in some of them, and when I receive an award I am just as happy. Some time ago I participated in the "Experimenting with Gesture Sensors" challenge and received as a finisher a Tenma 72-8150 capacitor. In the gallery below you can see what it looks like. Tenma 72-8150 IMAGE TITLE: THEN IMAGE DESCRIPTION IMAGE TITLE: THEN IMAGE DESCRIPTION IMAGE TITLE: THEN IMAGE DESCRIPTION IMAGE TITLE: THEN IMAGE DESCRIPTION IMAGE TITLE: THEN IMAGE DESCRIPTION IMAGE TITLE: THEN IMAGE DESCRIPTION I wanted to present it for some time, as I know how, but I didn't really have time. Therefore, through this blog I want to offer a presentation from the perspective of an ordinary user. Some of the features of this capacitor: Features: Display count: 1,999 •  Manual Range •  Diode Test •  Transistor Test •  Continuity Buzzer •  Low Battery Indication • Data Hold - Range Best Accuracy: • Resistance (Ω) 20Ω/200Ω/2kΩ/20kΩ/200kΩ/2MΩ/20MΩ/200MΩ/2000MΩ ±(0.8%+1) • Capacitance (C) 200pF/2nF/20nF/200nF/2μF/20μF/200μF/2mF/20mF ±(0.5%+10) General characteristics: Power 9V Battery (6F22) • LCD Size 61mm × 32mm • Product Color Orange and Grey • Product Net Weight 310g • Product Size 172mm × 83mm × 38mm • Standard Accessories Battery, Test Clip, Holster It is available here: Tenma 72-8150 I will start with tests for the most important components, namely capacitors. Below I present a video in which I measured some non-polarized capacitors, which I had on hand, with the values 22nF, 47nF, 100nF, 220nF. If you find something strange in the measurements, it is due to the imperfect contact, because the capacitors had traces of paper from the packaging. The probability that non-polarized capacitors are the most difficult to identify, what their value is, in some cases we can see the code written on them, and a more experienced electrician knows them, but it helps me if I can measure them. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L7HQDGiGFUPh8pU-NSNMwcoOZdN8Lgmq/view?usp=sharing community.element14.com/.../8078.Measure-unpolarized-caps.mp4 Tests with polarized capacitors, easier to identify, but in some cases we may be surprised that the capacitor can no longer be used. In the trade we also find cheap DMMs with the capacity measurement function, but these are more restricted. I tried to compare the measurements made with a capacitor vs DMM for some capacitors of 1uF, 10uF, 47uF, 100uF values. Fortunately, this DMM is also quite good, so the differences are not gross. https://drive.google.com/file/d/185_m7paxOhl2y99Mlr-rYO-BNYR4fQPn/view?usp=sharing community.element14.com/.../2671.Measure-polarized-caps.mp4 I also tested some diodes, something common like 1N4007, but also Schottky. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10d57P0qmiJisj2Bz2IP9Xm-X89pSICC-/view?usp=sharing community.element14.com/.../1185.Check-diodes.mp4 I also checked some bipolar transistors, such as BC546 NPN, BC556 or BC557 both PNP. I was not quite able to make contact so that I could measure well, but I managed in the end. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17SpWuQx-uv-gUiiKdt36A0mwBLChQxvt/view?usp=sharing community.element14.com/.../1777.Check-BJTs.mp4 I have not entered the resistance area because I have quite a lot of confidence that this device does a good job. And last but not least, how do you like the beep beep of this device in continuity mode? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dFHgHn6TdZysmoplRm7cUzl5hwSKJmRs/view?usp=sharing community.element14.com/.../0216.Beep-beep.mp4 I appreciate this measuring device, a dedicated one, a capacitor, and as I said at the beginning, for me it is useful, especially when measuring non-polarized capacitors. I like the fact that the device has an On/Off button, I no longer have to turn the selector until the device stops. Another thing I like is related to the measuring probes, I received short wires with crocodiles, it is best to measure a component standalone, not in the circuit. Maybe normal probes would have worked, but I have new ones. There is no point in talking about the weight, it can be seen that it is a small device, on the back it has a foldable support to be able to position the device in a more convenient position for the user. I would also say that the orange accent is similar to that of non-polarized capacitors. Share your thoughts in the comments about what I presented, your opinions help me to continue in the following blogs, if I have something to share with you. Thank you Element14 Community! Have a nice day! By the way, it seems that I can't upload videos to the blog, so they won't be available for a long time, maybe you know another method by which I can permanently upload videos. I have them on my drive and at some point I will delete them because I am starting to run out of space.

Indeed, you always had to bring the selector to the Off position, now you just press a button.

Thank you.

Congratulations. About one weak ago I received after some issues with UPS reward for my entry as part of Experimenting with Gesture Sensors competition which I recently won . As part of competition, I wrote 16 blogs, and this is seventeenth. In my blogs I described my opinions about MAX25405 Gesture Sensor and its evaluation kit as well as details about my progress and projects which I did as part of competition. If you are interested in more details about my competition entry or MAX25405, then feel free to read my summary blog or other blogs which I posted as part of competition. The Reward For my entry I won Grand Prize reward which was announced as iPad Pro and VIVE Cosmos VR System in value 2098 USD. It is the biggest and most expensive prize offered in Design Challenges ever as far as I know. But since I won several iPads in recent contests, I asked Element14 staff for changing iPad Pro by MacBook Air in similar (or lower value). They did their best and MacBook Air with M2 processor, extended 16 GB RAM and 256 GB of SSD fitted the budget. With HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite VR system both devices arrived in my home one week ago. The MacBook is very interesting device. It is my first mac. Control is very different from normal computers. Even keyboard layout is very different and since my native language have special chars like ěščřžýáíé it was not easy but after basic reconfiguration I mastered it in few days. My motivation for getting this device was mainly in support for developing apps for iPhone which is impossible or very hard from Windows/Linux PCs. In meantime when I will not be developing apps for iPhone I will share this laptop with other family members, so even I will not use it on daily basis some other members will. After about week spend with MacBook my feeling is very positive. Thanks, element14 and especially Randall Scasny and Daniel Zima for organising and sending it to me. The second part is HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite VR headset. I have never used VR for a longer period than period of basic evaluation. I had opportunity to try Microsoft HoloLens before, but this device is different. Even there are several practical usecases for VR headset still the most time I spend with testing VR games. It is very cool and impressive. For example, today I was repairing intergalactic robot, but I am not very skilled in this, so my robot completely broken and after my failure floor opened and all parts of broken robot felt down. All of this in my room! :D First step when using headset was freeing disk space for some games. VR Games consumes much more disk space than IDEs for MCU development. I think HTC should bundle additional SSD in the box :D . It is very cool device and even after week I do not know all its opportunities, but I am very happy about it and playing with it. Closing I am very happy about reward from this competition. It was very funny time to me play with MAX25405 in recent almost three months and now receive so big reward for it. I would like to thank all readers for reading this and my previous blogs. I would also like to thank Maxim Integrated (now ADI) for sponsoring this design challenge and of course I would like to thank Element14 staff and especially Randall Scasny and Daniel Zima for organising this contest, sending me free kit and later the reward. Thank you all.

Great write-up misaz . This is very much appreciated. Congratulations to misaz who is a deserved winner, in my opinion, who delivered exceptional work in all his blogs. The fact that he revealed new features, fixed a broken gesture sensor and then tested 2 gesture sensor boards is most impressive. Also, well done to all who participated in this exciting design challenge.Your entries were very creative. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and I appreciated the added time element14 gave us to complete the task. It demonstrated to me, once again, that putting something aside for a couple of days does wonders with problem solving. Your brain just figures things out in the background so that when you return, it all becomes so much clearer. It certainly helped me. I am still reading up in machine learning techniques and when that becomes clearer I know this is an ideal application to work on.
