Special Shoutout to Misaz

This is a special shoutout to Misaz who has very generously shared his prize with me that he won for his cool project in the " Experimenting with Supercapacitors Design Challenge ".

The prizes he won were a 4 channel oscilloscope and a GoPro camera. He actually gave me a choice of which prize I would like. I have a 4 channel scope, so I chose the camera.

This blog and video are a tribute to [mention:7ac0e16090954ddfa5ac0f03fa891723:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] and his generous gesture. Please join me in applauding his great and selfless act.

Experimenting With Supercapacitors - Finisher Prize

This is a quick look at the finisher prize in the Experimenting with Supercapacitors Design Challenge.

Originally the prize was going to be an Adafruit Playground Express Advanced Pack, but due to lack of availability it was switched to a shopping cart.

This is what I chose:

2 x Arduino UNO R4 Minima
A color LCD
2 x stackable headers for Raspberry Pi hats
3 servo motors
1 kg of 3D printer filament

Nice Haul , Christmas in November. Congrats !

One small thing, the Multicomp 9G servos need to use the servo horns provided. Dont accidentally toss them. They are just a hair different sized from other 9G servos (or vicea-versa) . I had several sandwich containers of unused servo horns, and culled the herd. opps. :-)

Very generous on the part of Misaz and element14 for making this prize split possible. Misaz is a tremendously generous person. In all competitions he takes the trouble to read and answer all questions and give advice. He not only publishes the blogs on time but also provides during the competition time all the work he does including code libraries and encourages others to take advantage of them. That is the spirit of a champion. Well done!

The value of the instruments gives meaning to the gesture, but the gesture itself is priceless. It speaks volumes about the person.

Very generous indeed. Misaz, I also admire the self reflection and decision process you used to share the prize. Sometimes we get wrapped up inside ourselves. This is a great example of the opposite where you admire and respect the efforts of a competitor. Doug, I have to commend you as well for showing restraint by not going for the oscilloscope.

Thanks for making a video about it. I hope the camera will work well with your accessories for many years.

I decided to split the reward because the results were very tight. As far as we know, one judge gives you the same points as I received, and we can easily compute that another judge gives you a very similar score. Because of very tight results and the fact that the reward consists of two things, I decided to ask Element14 staff for the possibility of splitting the reward and making a virtual 3rd place reward in this competition.

Seeking a judge to rate 6 final blogs for experimenting with supercapacitors

Greetings.

I have wrapped up the Experimenting with Supercapacitors program.

It's time to judge the final blogs.

If you have not judged a competition on element14 before, this may be an opportunity to experience being a judge.

This is a fairly easy one to judge because there are only 6 final blogs.

The judge needs to read through the blogs and score each blog based on a scale of 0 to 300 points.

Judging criteria generally follows completeness, use of supercapacitors, creativity in testing, and quality of experiments.

The judge have a lot of leeway as far as how they judge them.
