The only safe way to measure mains currents is by observing the double insulation requirements.

I like the simplicity of your professional solution a real neat and relatively safe way of doing it.

However your concluding comment of The use of the neutral wire also means if something went horribly wrong, the voltage potential above earth is minimal/zero.

is not strictly correct and could lull some people into a false sense of security. If the neutral is broken on the feed side that loop becomes live - albeit fed through the load.

I do not doubt that you and many other others understand that, but perhaps an edit would be advisable. You only have to look at the bad practices shown above to understand how Darwinian some people are!

I have a question, i looking for connect a "raspberry PI3" to a Adafruit motorshield V2 directly without an arduino.

I already make the change of voltage as you describe in this ticket, but now i have no idea to connect the rasp to the motorshied (what GPIO i should use) ?

Can you help me ?, and excuse my english but my last english lesson was very far away (i am french)

I'm so happy to see that this library is still in active development. Thanks a lot for keeping this live.

I was trying out your examples. But I'm not able to get how can I get device Ids of each radio. Now I have two temperature modules, but both just reports temperature. I want to identify which is which - in the code and then do some stuff.

Hello, this guide is very good. Thank you. I have A Question. I have communication between Arduino -> OpenHab. I'm sending temperatures from Arduino to OpenHab and from OpenHab send status ON/OFF for relay in Arduino. I'm sending The Temperatures every 10s and then I have ON/OFF from Openhab every 10s and it is adverse. How can I edit Arduino sketch?

Yeah I tried minicom. Data was coming perfectly there. And why do i need to convert it. Cant i get the data directly in number form

I tried this with a number type item but was uabke to make it work. I tried the following code.

In openhab - Number arduino "arduino[%d]" {serial="/dev/ttyAMA0@9600"}

In arduino-Serial.print(i)

Serial.println(i)

Serial.write(i)

I tried all these but nothing seemed to work.

I am controlling a servo with the arduino and want to semd the servo angle from openhab to the arduino. The servo will be acting as a dimmer.

Motion is out-of-date solution.
It has problem with libavformat of Raspbian Jessie.

I use raspberry pi3.

Thank you for the directions! I got stuck trying to use openHAB's apt-get. So, I reverted to using download ing the jar zip files using wget like you suggest. I wanted the latest version of openHAB, and updated the instructions to download the latest version of openHAB. My changes are here: Install OpenHAB on Raspberry Pi - All

fvan so right now when I browse to http://192.168.1.102:8082/openhab.app?sitemap=iotpi my iotpi which is located in sitemaps folder doesn't show anymore. I am not sure what is wrong. I wonder which of the following I should go with (or is it even necessary 100% to go with any of those? Can I just use wireless?)

Hi,

So I am very confused. I have been trying to control Hue Color lamps using OpenHAB that is running on a Raspberry Pi 2 model B. I got the complete configurations folder of /opt/openhab from two different people one used zwave and one use enocean. I wonder if it is necessary to use any of them and if that is the case why? Which one do you suggest me to use?

Is there a link to a preconfigured configuration folder that would 100% work for raspberry pi (preferably without zwave/enosean) to control hue color using openhab?

any help is really appreciated!

Hi,

I have tried above project in eclipse(linux x64) serial binding is not responding. should i change anything to use in eclipse ide.

1)I have added the rules at the end of demo.rules file.

2)and these 3 items

About the servo holder. Why not rotating it on a side ? And using the support option ? It is almost normal that this fail without supports. Or there was ?
