The engineer in me says that it would be easier to buy one and modify it, but I agree with Leslie, if you have the skills, you can do a much better job of integrating the technology into the garment.

Plus you can never go wrong with a geeked up hoodie.

Good for you giving it a go with the home made version. I think the mesh would look a lot cooler and more "techy" for the project. It's been quite a while since I did my 4H sewing classes, but mesh is probably stretchy and as long as you keep an even pressure front and back as you pull it through the machine, you should be okay. I think meshes can get caught up a bit in the needle, but slow and steady usually wins the race. BTW, have you seen the cool things they are doing with hoodies and El-wire tape these days? Could be an inspiration for another jacket LOL.
