Wow, this project sounds exciting. Not often one can incorporate a blimp into a project : )

I suppose a cheap option may be to actually send up the equipment in a small rocket (although then you're polluting to get up there in the first place)

Or hot air (like Chinese lanterns) - although in a built-up area there may be a risk of fire : (

Nice project.

I'm sure the results will be very informative.

Whether you can stop the cause or change the chemistry is a different story.

The comparisons before and after are a good way to show the effects, but something upwind at the time will eliminate any other variables.
