It's pity it only works with Professional+ versions of Visual Studio... should it work with Express version this would be a great free alternaitve!

It would be cool if there was a tool to convert back-and-forth between the settings in VS and a GNU Makefile. Otherwise, it gets difficult for people to replicate on non-Windows platforms : ( (assuming no Windows-specific libraries are used).

I wonder if such a tool exists for VS - my knowledge is low in this area.
