very interesting idea / project , very well fitting the challenge scope. What I find interesting is the move to Arduino IDE, I am curious to see the programming progress and mainly utilization of the heart rate monitoring and some real test results regarding this particular part.

I was thinking about a similar project couple years ago as I was planning my road trip from Montreal to Florida by car.

One factor you may want to consider is eye blinking as well Eye-tracking system monitors driver fatigue, prevents sleeping at wheel | WIRED UK . It is a more precise, but is much more complex design.

Another interesting option is to monitor brain activity https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3861841/ using EEG.

Nice project.

I see too many people just driving along on autopilot.

We need a way to keep them engaged or replace drivers with computers to make the roads safer.
