I get the same errors as you: Something went wrong; are you indoor? Move near a window, then reset and retry.
.

I installed Arduino Cloud Agent 2.5, because the ArduinoCreateAgent-1.2.1 that the Web version installs, crashes on my laptop when an Arduino re-enumerates after reset.
It's a known defect, known to be fixed in the version I installed manually, but the cloud solution still pushes out the buggy when registering your first device.

I have two MKR WAN 1310s, both registered correctly to Arduino Cloud and TTN. Configured with the Europe 868 frequency.
Also, both known to work, because I can make them talk to each other with good range (like you did in your MKR to MKR scenario).

I've tried 4 decent antenna's. 3 flex ones and a rod antenna. All of them support my 868 MHz range.
In the top photo, I'm using a MOLEX dedicated 868-915 MHz antenna.
In the lower photo, I use a different MKR WAN 1310, bith two MOLEX antennas that fit both the sub-1 GHz and Cellular band,
and a 868-915 rod antenna.

I don't succeed in getting the connection, inside, near the window or outside:
