Giving the KIT to a school or Association

Hi !

Just a quick question, now that the Design Challenge has come to the end.

I have no use for the Arduinos or the Grove KIT . Is there any problem if I give them to a school robotics club or an association ? They probably will use them more than me and will use them to learn.

Thank you danzima! Will do. There's some schools in my city that have robotics clubs (I don't know of any maker club) that will get some new MKR 1300 and Grove sensors ! Thank you element14 ! 🙂

Hi feiticeir0! You can absolutely hand the kit on to anyone you'd like, and that's a great idea if it isn't something you'd be likely to use in the future.

I do the same. I've sent kits that I was finished with to fellow e14 members or a maker space. Others, I've swapped with someone.
When I win a shopping cart, I sometimes order something I can give away.

Good idea, there is no point in leaving a very interesting and powerful card in a drawer, unused, when you can have a student use it for fun working on the IoT.

In the past I’ve donated things obtained from element14 to others, including a local makerspace and other members. If you do, encourage them to participate at element14 as well!

A short story on the unexpected joys of debugging, fault finding and a nose.

Saturday morning I have an alert that I have missed 5 heartbeats from my remote monitoring box, check to see if data is coming in, its not.

Check to see that is still powered on, its not.

Check the RCD in the house for the circut that feeds my garden power, its off.

Reset, observe, all is back to normal again. Until 45 mins later off again.

Down to the pond, check the junction box, dry, all connections good, under cover of umbrella, carefully check my project enclosure box, all good.

Reset, observe, all is back to normal again. Until 3 hours later off again.

This continues for the next few hours spotty on and off.

I check the full length of ther armoured cable run, i remake all electical connnections, checking each as I go, all to no avail.

Had it not been dinner time for my dog I would have spent the rest of the day trying to find the problem.

What was it I hear you ask?

A curious pug, specifically my curious pug, Cake, noticing that when the breaker was live it has a red light on it, this apparently warranted further dog inspection and her only eye (yes, she is one eyed) pushing her face right up to the breaker and her nose smushing the "test" button which stands proud of the breaker. The oh so slightest click as the breaker does its thing.

More amused than I am annoyed.

Wow, never would have expected that. I'm surprised that your RCD is so easy to trip (i.e. test). The GFCIs that we use have very small test and reset buttons that I doubt that a dog's nose could trip. Glad that you figured it out 🙂.

christophesky Great story! I also like the solution. 😄 Depending on the layout of the outlet, a small bit of foam tape may buy you enough protective height until Cake loses interest. Or use white electrical tape and both of you will forget about the light. 👍

Ah yes! Problem, Solution.

I am not ashamed to admit that for now a piece of black electrical tape has been stuck on the front to cover the LED which has caught her attention.(all other RCD functionality remains unaffected. (for now)

Good morning, when adding code and images to my blog entry for the Just encase design challenge it was flagged as spam?

I added code and JSON schemas, along with some images. I have appealed the auto content flagging, but remain concerned.

When this happens in particular I manage the allowed website addresses that don't count towards link counts.

The "Join the Challenge" option is still clickable for me. Hence I was confused if my submission was received.

I'm addressing parts of this in two ways:

1. I'm asking the devs to allow me to 'whitelist' users so their content isn't dumped into the moderation queue when they're trusted.

2. I adjust the moderation settings frequently.

I'm starting to write blogs with Microsoft Word, it's a bit frustrating that the platform marks your content as spam when your document is still in draft status. You press save so as not to lose the changes and you no longer have access to the document, and if this happens to you on Saturday, then wait until Monday.
It's also frustrating that if you have the blog on google drive there is no way to copy and paste the images, something that does work with microsoft word.
