Note it is in the style of Star Trek LCARS because the Clear Walk system is also the "Main Deflector

RE: Make Life Accessible - Clear Walk - Melting Snow - blog 19

Nice update [mention:193ac2434c814a24b46635a2210baec1:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05]

I'm surprised at the temperatures (+26... unless it's a typo) you reached just using reflected sunlight.

As you say the days that it can be used are minimal, abut maybe it could help after a prolonged event when the temperatures are even lower.

If you build one in a basement, make sure it will fit up the stairwell.

Funny ... It might even fit in your van without disassembly. Properly setup it would probably increase the directed power by a large margin. But since it is manually adjusted it would only serve as a proof of concept. I would guess that it would give you around 45 minutes worth of sun before needing adjustment.

RE: Make Life Accessible - Clear Walk - Melting Snow - blog 19

Nice update Douglas.

I would suggest using a curve on the mirrors, so that you can concentrate the sun energy on a smaller area.

Your results were about what I expected given your design.

Good test though.

DAB

RE: Make Life Accessible - Clear Walk - Melting Snow - blog 19

The idea of beaming the light into the window is kind of interesting, especially if you had plants growing in that window.

My greenhouse doesn't get as much sun in the winter, because it's partially blocked by the house. Some well-placed mirrors might be useful.

Scott
