Something is wrong with your install. I am using a i5-6th Gen on a laptop with 8gb of memory and my SDK starts in about 5-10 seconds.

Strange, I just had this happen to me, as well. I'm not sure what fixed it. I tried launching manually via command line after it hung up. It seemed to hang up for a moment, but ended up loading shortly after. Then I closed out and tried opening again via Desktop shortcut, and it worked.

I've never used Ultra96 , but have used the Xilinx SDK for other Zynq devices. I've never find it to be particularly slow. I think something else is up.

It didn't take that much time even on my VM, but I am using Ubuntu 16.04 not 18.04. It seems something not quite right to me.
