I will be giving the sponsor a summary of all the suggestions for improvement. Even following the documentation for installation exactly requires lots of tweaks and workarounds. My latest was a refusal to build due to the locale. I upgraded RAM. I even had to add an extra HDD alongside my SSD. I went off on a tangent that ended up with a dodgy SATA cable destroying two 1.5TB drivers and losing loads of data.

I noticed that a 2019.1 BSP for the MicroZed has just been uploaded here, so at least I won't have to stick with 2018.2 to keep things simple and supported for the MicroZed. (Of course, 2019.2 is the current version but it's a start.)

Petalinux is poorly documented from start to finish. Considering being able to run Linux on your own customised hardware is a key feature of the Zynq, it's surprising that this is the case.

RE: P2P: Petalinux Labs

I agree with your statement about system resources. I wasn't quite prepared for it and I had to switch computers before starting the PetaLinux course. I was also surprised with the requirement to run the tools in a Windows VM. They do warn about reserving a lot of disk space. I only allocated 300GB and had to be diligent about deleting build products as each build can consume ~30GB. But otherwise as you said, I thought the courses were very good.

Good luck with your project.

RE: P2P: Petalinux Labs

Thanks for a great write up!
