I did the same thing and installed 2018.2.1, because I kept getting notifications that "A new version of Vivado is available" in my Win10 notification panel. (and it still won't go away).

Must be a notification bug.

Don't count on things working if you use the wrong version of Viavado - at the very least you will be plagued by warnings and requests to update components. At the worst stuff just won't work.

I'm not doing this course but I would use the version used to create the tutorial material.

My first reaction when looking over the materials - “Oh crap - there is a LOT of training ahead of us!” Looks like an entire semester’s worth of curriculum.

Excited to get rolling but jeesh - there is a lot to get through. Going to have to budget my time accordingly.
