Hi Randall,

Even though this wasn't an official "Design Challenge", it sure seemed like one.I'm sure we all put as many hours in this as if it was one.

It was a challenge for me just to PWM a second LED and reconfigure the outputs to run servos.

I plan on trying to do more with this board in the future, I'd like to see more user HW/SW examples

If the Zedboard series had as many followers as the RPi posting projects, it could be one heck of a dev system.

To get more people interested, more "how-to's" and "see what I did's" or "try this" need to be available

Who wants to start a monthly MiniZed magazine?

Hi Randall,

Thanks for bringing this FPGA experience to the community.

The series confirmed my expectations that FPGA work was beyond my current capability, but it did show me that the tools are at a level where a good engineer should be able to dive in and bring a successful project to life.

Each of the participants provided a good view into the device, the development process and their experiences.

I would say it was a great learning experience for all.

Well done.

I got the impression that the trainees had their hands full just trying to follow the mechanics of the courseware and there was so much, the course couldn't spend a lot of time putting FPGA processes in perspective. I suspect it was tough to blog about as well.

I've certainly enjoyed following along with the blogs and giving the Avnet Speedway a try myself. I've definitely learned a lot about FPGAs along the way.

I must admit that I still can't find that project where PL will fit better than using a microcontroller, or even one where I could justify shoehorning one in for the learning experience. It's great to have another tool in the box for when it does though. I don't feel I know FPGAs well, but maybe I know them well enough that I'll recognise a potential FPGA project when I see one.

Thanks for running the course. It's been an eye opener.

It's awesome that the discussions last year helped shape the way forward to training us. I really appreciate it.

Prior to doing this training course, I didn't think I'd ever be able to have a meaningful discussion with others on an advanced chip with combined FPGA and ARM applications processor.. yet now I've got my feet wet and tentatively answered some questions from other MiniZed users since the forum merged. So definitely a positive first step!

I still need to catch up with my colleagues, but fully intend to complete.. it's been inspiring seeing them learn enough to develop their own projects on this platform.

A friend has purchased a MiniZed board to follow our blog posts, and I think over time other newcomers will also want to make use of the same training material, and our blog posts, too.
