Be sure to include a sensor to check if a chicken is in the doorway prior to closing the door. Otherwise, you might have pressed chicken before it is ready. ;-)

Very interesting, in fact agricultural IoT could have increased potential with the expansion of the LPWAN protocols where broadband modem near and 3G/LTE modem as far too expensive, high power and complex to deploy for large number of sensors in the fields.

Great project John, it will be nice to see it implemented. It seems it will make life much easier at the house F.O.C. (I like that acronym).

Cute kid and bunny rabbits, what's not to like?

I will be watching what you do with the small farm IOT project.

I can see a lot of useful ideas and having been around small farms in my youth, there are a number of things that would be improved with remote sensing and reporting.
