Hello Gene, I’m enjoying a lot the progress of your project. I like Rod’s suggestion, modifying the exhaust shape (to compress a little the air going out) may add more thrust.

Hi Gene,

I like your project and have just had a read through your other two previous blogs (there's a lot of blogs in PiCasso to keep up with !). It is a project I need to keep watching I believe.

Would a nozzle help to direct the air flow from your fan in one direction to increase the thrust perpendicular to the fan ?

Is it perhaps worth testing a small model R/C aircraft/drone propeller to see if it gives any more directional thrust than the equipment cooling fans ?

I don't think you need to go much faster than you are already managing for a mobile however.

Interesting project. Look forward to reading about how you work through your issues. I've wanted to try out these lower cost slip rings but haven't had the opportunity. Seems like they are working for you.

Gene,

Looks good despite the problems with the fans. It looks quite a bit like a death star. Air is slippery stuff to work with so this is pretty good. Will there be more orbs rotating at different levels and directions?
