Good point DAB, and me too. As a matter of fact, I have chosen the compromise of a low power focusing the lens on a round hole of about 10 cm from 1 cm in the smaller case. I got it in the eye and the damage is the same as seeing a white LED. The proof is that in the camera sequence I published, you see that two times the laser cross the sensor without any kind of effect than a red flashing. Obviously, this generates a minimal impact than a straight laser but it is not the worth, especially in a public context.

I do worry about pointing any laser where it could enter an unprotected eye.

I like the revised eye, as well as the laser. All you need now is some smoke or haze to make the beam visible as well.

Your project is evolving really well - it looks awesome : )

The style of project is very appealing - If I had applied, I also would have wished to create some moving sculpture.

This was what I would have liked to animate - it is some art by someone (I don't know who) - but if I had the craft skills, I would have liked to replicate it for real, i.e. make a Pi or PC enclosure like this,

with eyes, and leg or cable remnants that twitched occasionally depending on what the computer was doing.. : )

Great update on your design challenge project. I think that the eye is looking pretty cool and the addition of the laser is a nice touch.
