The use of two caps on power supply decoupling (which is not universally recommended) is often&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;based on the idea that small cap provides a low ESR but that the large capacitor (the 10uF in your case) should have a fairly high ESR (0.5ohms or more). &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;How will you compare the performance of the polymer cap compared with a standard aluminum electrolytic, tantalum or ceramic in your circuit ?&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The small value caps would normally be MLCC or plastic film - MLCC caps should be used with caution in filter circuits, COG or NPO dielectrics are preferred.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Other materials have significant voltage/capacity sensitivity and can introduce large amounts of signal distortion in some filter applications.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;MK&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=7122&amp;AppID=229&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
