Learned something new following this tutorial: http://www.pyimagesearch.com/2015/10/26/how-to-install-opencv-3-on-raspbian-jessie/

You can use "make -j4" to make use of all 4 cores, speeding up the process! According to the tutorial it then takes about 1h35min.

DAB sir, Thank you. And the opencv works much better on the Pi 2 as opposed to freeky slow performance on the older RPi. I highly recommend giving it a whirl and with python its actually quite easy. I will post as much example code as possible so that it becomes easy for everyone to experiment with it. Joey Sir, Thanks. I'm not totally at a disadvantage as long as guys like you are working on sorting out the problems and documenting them along the way. I do plan to use the ChipKit but might end up doing that part for last and finish some other stuff first. Cool. I hope you get the kit soon, it'd putting your at a disadvantage. Do you plan to use the chipkit or mems board? Hope to have some issues fixed for both by the timr you get it.

I am considering the openCV library as well.

I have long considered using opencv, but it is nice to know it also works with the RPi.
