One of the nice things about todays ribbon cables is that they lay FLAT. So if you place your electronics and modules in such a way that your cabling, (preferably ribbon cables), will lay flat, you run all your cable from the bottom of your case to the top along the same plane as your hinges of the Medtech case. Some placement, or rebuilding of some circuit boards would definitely consolidate and save space, but probably not a major concern at this stage of the project. Have you considered a smaller screen, or enclose the Medtech in a dual case where the screen is mounted on the outside of the case, yet has a protective cover over it for transporting?

Good luck!

RE: Meditech: Starting over

Hi Enrico,

The wires in a project are always a challenge and when cables are involved it is even more difficult. Your idea to shorten and route the wires are going to make a positive difference. I have had problems in the past however when I tried to be too neat and encounter some signal bleed from capacitive effects between adjacent non-shielded wires. I look forward to seeing your next prototype.

John

RE: Meditech: Starting over

That screen will be nice!

RE: Meditech: Starting over

Nice post.

In commercial systems, they use wiring harnesses to keep the excess wire to a minimum.

You could also run the wires to one corner to keep everything located to one side, which would make it easier to open and close without having all of the wires just dangling down.

Just a thought,

DAB
