The elemen14 Community calls on all Engineers and Makers to use Raspberry Pi to support Scientists in their experiments!

Sci-Pi Design Challenge

The Challenge

Using one of our Free Raspberry Pi 4 Model B or any Raspberry Pi product you already own, we task members of the elemenet14 Community to create a help solve problems facing Scientists and Labs.

Example Projects:

Use the Raspberry Pi as a open source logging system
Build a Raspberry Pi Home Lab
Help run Remote experiments on a low cost computer
Use the Raspberry Pi to create a IoT Interface for aging Lab Equipment
Expand on your existing Experiments by using a Raspberry Pi

element14 Community will be announced at EmbeddedWorld on March 14-16th, Launching the Save the Bees Challenge with mayermakes

MayerMakes demoed his project to combat Braulidae Bee Lice prototype project in bee hives, a video documenting the build and design process will launch on the 16th of December 2022 on element14 presents

The Terms

There are two phases to every Design Challenge.

First, members apply to receive the "Kit" (listed above). Applications must be received by the Application Deadline. Judges review these and select winners who receive the Kit. Those members become our sponsored Challengers – but anyone is welcome to participate in the next phase with the only stipulation being their projects must include the Arduino MKR 1310 and adhere to all terms and conditions of the challenge. Sponsored and non-sponsored Challengers are eligible to receive prizes.

The second phase is the Build Phase. All Challengers are encouraged to post about their project progress in the Design Challenge area. The minimum requirement for the Build Phase is that Challengers post at least 5 blog posts before the Projects Due Date (see above) and that their project demonstrates a way of helping Bee populations using the Arduino MKR 1310. Judges will more favorably consider Challengers’ work if it contains regular progress updates, photos, videos and code samples or other rich media.
