I have a question about the temperature differentials that you hope to detect from a cracked pipe. Where would the energy for this differential come from? It seems to me that in long distance pipes where a drone might be useful any initial heat difference between the contents of the pipe and the environment would be quickly equalized while the heat difference in shorter pipes might be more easily monitored from fixed positions. Pressurized gasses might provide an exceptions as any leak would produce a temperature differential based on the energy loos of the expanding gas.

John
