You might want to capture the raw sensor data to see how much the data changes with your filter.

Sometimes you can average out important impulse data that really causes the problems.

The dry contact EEG electrodes sound interesting. I will be looking forward to see how they work out.

You might want to integrate an accelerometer sensor. You might be able to correlate specific impulses to specific EEG changes.

Sometime knowing the type of impulse is as important as its magnitude.
