So, i don't really know what is wanted or expected for the blog posts so I am just improvising and ploughing on regardless. I have just posted a new one here if you want an example.

If everyone is happy then I am happy, but if I can be doing things better then please let me know. I am concentrating on relaying the new information that I now know having experimented and researched. If noting else I am hoping that it will be useful to the next person. If I can do something differently, even if it is just for you personally, then let me know. I seem to be drilling down a little more than I expected so I think there will be more than 5 blog posts, but I am trying not to go overboard and only post what otters will find interesting or useful. Telling ne not to waffle on is also a perfectly valid option. ;-)

Has anyone used the OneWire protocol with the Seeeduino XIAO under MicroPython?

I am trying to use the OneWire protocol to talk to a DS18B20, but I don't think it is currently compiled in to MicroPython for SAMD21 based devices.

Am I correct? If so are there any recommended alternative libraries. If not then any thought as to what I am doing wrong?

What IDE should I use with Seeeduino XIAO? Is it supported by Arduino IDE?

I received my item today. I am wondering if Arduino support the Seeeduino XIAO. If not, can you give me recommendation on what IDE should I should to get started with the Seeeduino XIAO?

To cut a long story short, the package has arrived in my city, but I am on holiday and it will be returned before I return. It has been sent so I can not make any changes to the delivery instructions, so I need to contact the person who sent it to make the changes. Who do I need to contact?

Challenger Announcement Delay

Hello Folks

I wanted to come to you all with an update on The Challenger Announcement for the Summer Of Green Tech Design Challenge.
I will be updating the timing to this challenge shortly due to an issue with preparing the kits for challengers. We have had to delay the challengers a little as there has been a delay in the Challenger kits being ready to ship.

Please be aware that I will update the Challenge Dates as soon as we are ready to ship the Challengers kits.

I will make sure challengers who applied are still available for this challenge.

Deceptive Smart Garden needs to be Smarter

I was gifted this rather smart indoor planter.

Its advertising and marketing is somewhat deceptive, for example, the title claims:

"Click & Grow Indoor Herb Garden Kit with Grow Light | Easier than Hydroponics Growing System | Smart Garden for Home Kitchen Windowsill | Vegetable & Herb Garden Starter Kit with 9 plant pods, White"

There's nothing "smart" about this (it only has lights and a timer), nor would you keep it on your kitchen windowsill (it has LEDs, why use outdoor light!?) and I would argue there's nothing hydroponics about it (you sit the plants in a bath of water).

Further to extend its height, you have to buy (or 3D print) extensions to the arms, and there's no temperature control or pump for the water.

Since it has 9 slots for 'plants', but frankly, you wouldn't want to fill each one as you're then starving the neighbour of food, I'm thinking it gives an opportunity for electronics to fit into one, maybe create an enclosure, have some temperature control, add something else.

The last time I tried anything involving moisture though, it resulted in degraded and rusted electronics, it did not end well. Obviously, I'm not using the right components.

So this gives an opportunity for hacking and making. I'm open to suggestions, and what components to use.

Variations to the sensor kit for participants?

Hi pchan , for my project proposal, I wonder if the sensor kit can be expanded to also include a UV sensor, qty 3 temperature sensors, and a dozen Grove pigtails ?
