Great post Douglas,

Seeing someone else's issues with new software is always useful.

The first issue with new software is trying to find out what it does TO you in addition to what it will do FOR you.

I look forward to seeing the system up and running. There are a lot of aspects of your implementation I might want to copy.

Doug,

Nice. I have not run mosquitto on a Windows system, but I have run it on Linux and Raspberry Pi's before with messaging between an ESP8266. RasPis and OpenHAB as well as with NodeRed. The programming was all done with Python, so it will be interesting to how MQTT works with the TI devices. I believe there are some sample programs for this especially with Energia, if you have not found this already.

In Code Composer, you might want to look for the "CC3100BOOST MQTT Twitter LED Example" project.

I'll be headed in this direction myself, so it will be interesting to see your path with this.
