"Your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them. Use a continuity meter."

This is particularly true with modern day Lead free solders. In fact, these Lead free solders can have the opposite problem and can grow whiskers that create unwanted short circuits over time.

You notes on soldering are true, but a cold solder joint is worse than none.

Some of those in the picture look suspitious to me.
