Apparently the AEM is only functional when the controller board is powered via USB and the power switch is in DBG mode. So if you switch to BATT mode you can't use it.

From the EZ32 docs.

"The Advanced Energy Monitor can only measure the current consumption of the EZR32 when the power selection switch is in the DBG

position."

Check out page 7 od the EZ32 users manual.

https://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documents/TechnicalDocs/wstk6222_EZR32WG_915MHz_Wireless_Starter_Kit.pdf

RE: Project power measurement

Sounds right to me John.

You might be able to use one of the hall effect current to voltage sensors.

This is a 5A version with 185mV/A output sensitivity. But I think you can get a 30A version that is like 66mV/A.

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8882

And there are several 12 bit ADC inputs already available on the EZ32WG controller board expansion header. And the controller board also provides the AEM circuit, that I think can be used in real-time. I know it can analyze energy, V and A, usage and correlate it to your code during debug. You can get all the documentation here.

https://www.silabs.com/products/wireless/wirelessmcu/Pages/ezr32wg-starter-kits.aspx
