Yes, it would be an interesting project to set up the RPI with the CC3300 to see if you could set up a wireless Wifi link between an laptop and the RPI device. I think I can see where you could build a wireless link booster for a portable hub using these components.

Did you ever do any experiments to see how far you could separate the CC3300 rcvr and xmitr?

It would be interesting to see the power use verses distance for a stable RF link.
