True or False. A high wattage resistor is color coded the same way as a low wattage resistor. Explain.

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting the question the right way. Low and High wattage resistors with the same color code? or Low and High wattage resistors color coded in the same manner?

Please help me understand as well, this is a question given by my professor/ I've read a couple of books and sites but still can't tell for sure.

    Most of the higher power resistors have printed text, not color coding.

    Hi Eden,

     

    Your question answer is false and what shabaz says that very big wattage resistors has text on them is correct, but only for large wattages. In the other cases, the wattage is shown on the resistors depending on the diameter for discrete components and a similar standard sizing variation in the case of SMD components, like it is shown in the image below.

    Thank you! Maybe it was indeed a trick question. Based on what I've read, the case is as you've said, it's not color coded anymore. I then thought, maybe he was asking from the range of rating a color coded resistor may have, for example 1 pertaining to the high wattage rating, and 0.5 to the low wattage rating, but either way it will be false still, cause two resistors with the same color code will mean same range of resistance, and thus have same wattage capability. I'm not sure as we're just starting the sem, and I'm new to the whole electrical and electronics subject.
