Prototyping Male Connector

NOTE : As a correct answer has been received and marked, I will not be following up on further responses. Once I've measured and modeled the connector I'll happily share the drawing file here. Hi all, I have a personal project that needs to interface with a port that uses a physical configuration that is believed to be proprietary. To provide a stable interface with the port, I would like to prototype a male connector but I don't think I'll be able to directly measure some of the dimensions of the existing female connector because of the scale and unique configuration. Does anyone have experience with using a temporarily malleable material to create a form of a female connector so that measurements can be taken of the negative mold of the connector? Any suggestions on what materials or products might be helpful for this purpose? Thanks, community!

Hi Nathan Contact your dentist as they have materials that will make an excellent detaled impression. They use an impression material called alginate to make impressions of prepared teeth so that they can have a crown cast. Once you have the impression you will have a way to get your measurements. Hi Nathan, It might be worth taking a photo, in case anyone recognises it, in case it is not proprietary. If this is a personal project not in quantity, maybe just cut off the connector? Otherwise if you really need to take a mold, there are probably art clays, but as I understand they shrink slightly while hardening : (

I agree with shabaz . Post a pic if you can, otherwise, is there a model number on the female connector? Digital Calipers are a must have in my tool kit to get dimensions, and that can help narrow it down.
