In this episode, we put a Zener diode to work in a voltage regulating application. I’ve been wanting to put together a 13.8VDC, 30 amp linear power supply for a while now, and have gathered together all of the required components. However, it needs linear regulation to ensure the voltage is kept at the proper level. Sounds like a job for Zeners to me!

tariq.ahmad looks like something has gone wrong here. The new How to Drive LEDs video appears to have been inserted into the previous Make a Zener-Regulated DC Power Supply post ?

After realizing that the parallel transformers were slightly underpowered for the task.. I picked up this single 500VA toroidal, which will replace the two original toroids. This should get me closer to 27 amps. Two other items I'll need to add are current foldback and overvoltage protection (at the very least, before I power up my transmitters). Let me know if you would like to see an update on this project in the future!
