What would virtual reality be like if flat panel display technology were never invented? In this project, Andy uses a pair of CRTs and the Raspberry Pi 4 to build a VR headset with stereoscopic 3D, 3DOF head tracking, and custom, browser-based software. It may not be practical but it's definitely unique, and guaranteed to have no screen door effect.

    Very good project.

I have a couple of old CRT's from camcorders and now I know how to use them.

That is amazing.  Great use of old tech.  Makes me sad that I threw out my old camcorder years ago.

Two thumbs up on this project. I wonder how much time was taken from beginning to end?

Please if you could guide me regarding this.

I am thinking of using 7" LCD as display for raspberry pi which will be running a VR module on Chromium.

How do I divide screen in half to get stereoscopic images for VR mode?

That makes sense. I am comparing it to my time to complete. Sometimes these appear to be instantaneous on video when they evolve over time. Thanks for setting things straight.

That's hard to quantify. I did it over a period of months, but really spread out. Getting the initial image to show up only took a day or two. The head tracking hardware and software took much longer.
