I came across the buttons whilst searching, but they are really neat. Going to keep them on my go to parts list!
The OpenSCAD is a bit of a fragile relationship, when I get my head around an idea then it…

Unexpected OpenSCAD (@ 9:20)! You are definitely more skilled with it than I am. I can, just barely, edit pre-existing designs.

Also, I didn't know Multicomp Pro had those panel mount push buttons. I need…

Nice build! The output luminosity is huge I was also impressed by the OpenSCAD.

Do you have an estimation of the battery life while powering just the lamp? I would suggest to do some basic (PWM?) regulation…

Like Dave has said, the files are for KiCad and OpenSCAD, both are free to use, and can be downloaded online. It appears the zip is downloaded fine, it's just the computer can't find a way to open them. (KiCad for .sch and kicad_pcb & OpenSCAD for .scad files).
Please give it a go and let me know if you have any further issues or questions

"...I have dowloaded the zip file, butI can't open them..."

You will need the KiCad / OpenSCAD etc. design tools installed to open these design files.

I like the functionality of a box lantern design versus so many off-the-shelf ideas that try to jam as much as possible into the handle. Well done!

What stage are you getting to with downloading/opening? I'll see if I can point you in the right direction, or get someone else to assist.

My guess is that 27 W is absolute maximum power consumption when powered by a car battery that is charged by an alternator. This can easily be 14.8 V (which is 1.23 times more than 12 V) and then 19.46 W * 1.23 = 24 W , which is closer.

Here is a typical measurement on a car battery when not being charged and while running the engine.

The strap would be a good idea, it's fairly hefty in weight. A few minutes around the garden is fine, but I'm not sure I'd want to go on a long walk with it.
