Felix walks you through the steps for installing Arch Linux through terminal. He’ll show you where to download the installer from archlinux.org, how to mount the Arch Linux installer to a USB, how to configure the bios to boot into the USB, and goes through the rest of the install process.  Once installed, you’ll be able to login and customize the OS through the GUI.

How did you capture the BIOS?  that would come in handy for future projects.

Everything was going along fine as per the installation guide until the boot loader install.

I'm new to linux and do not where to start from or how to start  I'm using Oracle VM Virtual Box 6. I like to install Arch Linux into a vitual box. My computer is a tower and using UEFI BIOS, I can not boot from a usb memory stick to install Arch Linux. So I perfer to install it from the ISO file instead onto a VM virtual box. Do you have any video's on how this can be done. A step by step procedure, from start to end. This will be greatly appreciated.

Depending on how newly minted you are in Linux, you may want to take on a less daunting Linux flavour that Arch to start the exploration. As an O/S it has its pluses but from my experience it is not the ideal transition to Linux platform available. You will become very familiar with the acronym RTFM if you continue your journey. You may not find the manual. You may not understand the manual. That doesn't reduce the use of the acronym as a solution to all problems.

It has been my experience, the Arch Linux community is very focused on the understanding that you learn through experiencing it yourself. Struggling is all part of the process of learning. It seems those that use it have struggled and take it as a badge of honour others must earn as well in order to be accepted. As an adult educator, my understanding is different.

I suggest you wade into the Linux water with another flavour to reduce the trauma experience. You may have been to a lake where someone jumps into the water and says threw chattering teeth, "come on in the water is fine." Arch Linux is that guy.

I've not used Arch Linux so cannot comment on that, but sadly I can think of many software or hardware development communities with this ideology, just for their weird satisfaction (or, sometimes deliberately done to differentiate from their (paid-for) consultancy services. But it's never nice to deliberately create difficulties for potential customers so that they may pay). Shooting themselves in the foot to be honest.

I recall the following quote from an article in Macleans, a Canadian national news and current affairs magazine. "Knowledge has power." This simple statement has given me the insight into understanding the dynamics at play.

I try to shared what I have learned when appropriate. I guess that is why teaching and writing are two tasks I enjoy. I find it frustrating working with individuals that guard what they know and miserly doled it out only to those they think worthy. I have "two words or one finger" [A quote I saw on a T-Shirt:)] for those people.

I tried Arch Linux but failed to get a desktop GUI operational. After struggling to find a path to success, I eventually gave up. I was disappointed. I think the community has a wealth of knowledge I would have like to tapped in to. At the time, it just didn't seem to be worth further investment and I decided to moved on.

When I saw the post containing the words newbie and Arch Linux, I decided I would grabbed the life buoy hanging on the rail and provide them an out. Arch Linux is not for the first time Linux user. To be successful, you need to develop a few Linux calluses before taking on that operating system.
