For the case of his DIY UPDI programmer, Clem made a custom blend of 3d printable resins to get the most bang for the buck.
The base is Multicomp Pro Water washable standard Resin in white. This budget option makes up about 60% of the final resin. Clem adds MAYER MAKES Engineering Resin to it and mixes it while constantly scraping walls and bottom of the container to make sure its perfectly blended. The more Engineering Resin you add to the mix the stronger the resulting resin will be.
When you want to paint your 3d prints, it is always a good idea to have a solid base color, so Clem decides to add an Ampule 3D Basics Black Resin Colorant to the mix. One ampules is meant for 1kg of finished Resin.
This mixture yields a much stronger but still very affordable black resin, Ideal for prototyping enclosures. A few light coats with primer and spray paint turn the 3d printed Enclosure to a nice mint green, but the final touch is still missing.
MAYER MAKES Engineering Resin can easily be engraved with a Laser, so Clem obviously tired out, if the mix would still yield good results when lasering „UPDI“ into the lid of the 3d printed Enclosure. The final result is a durable and beautiful case that houses Clem's newest programming tool!
