And for a project closeout, here is a list of things that worked and things I would look at doing differently:

Tiaras

The IR control seems to be working pretty well
They didn't coordinate well in style or color with the costumes (in my defense, the kids picked them out :-)
The LEDs need daytime and nighttime brightness modes
I have a bug (and not just a ladybug) somewhere - the microcontroller can reset itself to the starting mode unexpectedly and haven't found it yet

Ladybug Wings

These worked quite well and were less fragile than I thought they might be
Could look at a different mechanism that is less visible

Rocket Backpack

Appearance was good and fit him well
One of the foam hemispheres fell off and had to be glued back on (hot glue!!!)
Add dry ice (thanks for the suggestion [mention:687981bbb0f34d3584b51cfca4f9c5fe:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05])

Brilliant projects and such a clever design for your projects.

I'm sure you missed your calling before retirement, and it seems special effects looks like it missed out on your skills.

Hopefully we'll see you taking up some of the challenges and especially the Design Challenges.

These are awesome!

With the cooling fan, you totally need to add some dry ice and use the fan to push out exhaust :-D
