Doug, your interpretation of the Boo In A Box theme resulted in a really original, innovative project. Incorporating the different aspects of the project, such as the legs and arms, into a relatively small form factor was very impressive. Plus, you documented the project well with plenty of images and a great video.

The Halloween competition is concluded for another year!

This was definitely suitably spooky for Halloween, the audio is very effective and definitely provoked a reaction. Plus, the videos really captured both the making process and also the finished project.

The name and concept are a really interesting take on the theme which resonated with us. On top of this, the box's ability to first open its eyes, then stand up, then extend its arms, and then talk, create the feeling of multiple surprises (or multiple boo's in one box, if you like). The speed the box can stand up at is particularly startling and caught people by surprise when I showed it to them.

We will be announcing the winner before too long but I'd like to say a big thank you again to everybody who has participated as well as our entrants.

I hope the Boo In A Box theme was inspiring. Some of my favourite projects from previous years were the wearable projects including Rick and Morty-inspired Torture Underwear and the Ghostbusters Equipment + Costume so perhaps there's some potential there for an interesting theme next time [emoticon:c4563cd7d5574777a71c318021cbbcc8]

Let us know if you have any exciting plans for tonight although I appreciate it's a Thursday. I'll just be staying in tonight handing out candy and watching Hammer horror movies (recommendations welcomed) but yesterday I did something a bit more exciting which was seeing a local screening of Psycho in 35mm film.

Our local cinema upgraded to digital in ~2013 but had space to keep one of their two 35mm projectors. The projectionist hooked up the digital projector to a camera to show us around the projection booth as they set up Psycho on the film projector and talked us through the process as he did it. It was very interesting seeing how films used to be set up until fairly recently plus the room and projectors themselves.

I truly hope I manage to make something for this event. Not really for the prizes but because I love the idea of making something with electronics for Halloween.
Having said that, I find it rather ironic that part of the prize is Halloween decoration, that is probably going to be sent to the winners closer to Christmas [emoticon:6d505171faa4497c85c5ca27290c555d]
