I also have one. While it contains lot of components hard to solder, it is still usefull and I utilized lot of chips from it. The good part is that maxim sample it for free, so anyone (including students which is nice) can receive it for free. And even more, it looks that maxim has plan to release more of these kits. Six days ago on <a href="https://www.maximintegrated.com/en/products/whats-new.html">Whats new</a> section of their section appered brand new ESSENTIAL KIT (<a href="https://www.maximintegrated.com/en/products/power/linear-regulators/MAXESSENTIAL02EP.html">MAXESSENTIAL02EP.</a>) containing 9 small power regulator evaluations boards.
