I got started early on a PWM controller for small servos using op-amps. It was a good chance to play with KiCad 6 and I wanted to get some PCBs made before the Chinese New Year. So I already have something in hand.

Audio used to be all analog, but now it is often digital all the way from the microphone to the speaker.

However there are all kinds of audio devices out there that might make interesting prizes:

How about a podcast audio mixer? There are many types out there, but they might improve our blogs.

Or How about a small MIDI keyboard.

Going through the boxes for things I had once started with op amps and never finished was a line follower vehicle project without a microcontroller. How about a remote competition of line following vehicles.

Op Amps for Everyone | ScienceDirect book would be a cool one(of course can catch a pdf copy, but there is a separate kick in holding a book and it's a lifetime piece). TI has some great kits Analog System Lab Kit Pro (ti.com) designed targeting experimentation and educational purposes.

Random thoughts:

replace (or re-design) an existing circuit with a (different) op-amp.

Break into categories (amplifier, reference, transconductance, etc) and judge based on the component count. e.g., what is the minimum number of external components to build various op-amp-based circuits.

Best use of single-supply op-amps.

Operational Amplifiers can do everything, what's a circuit where they shouldn't? (worst use of an op-amp?)

Something that goes well with Op-Amps are passive components. A nice gift might be a kit of resistors, capacitors and/or inductors. It would be nice to allow the winners to choose between through hole or surface mount components as peoples skill and comfort levels are different. There use to be some kits of analog devices (like Op Amps and such), but I am not seeing much in stock.
