I've wanted one of these for years but no way was going to pay for a commercial unit. Besides, there is no fun to buy a commercial unit. I've made a lot of coils and did a lot of guessing, and unwinding a few turns and trying again. I do like the idea of various probes, I think of trying to measure a winding for an electric motor. The field strength is different in every location. Depending on the shape, the effect of the coil next to it, on and on, not that I understand all of this, it would be interesting to see the effect with a probe rather than a computer program that "simulates" . I'd be in line for buying a board and housing, it really does look simple and a perf board would probably be just as easy to use.

You need to add a strip of hard plastic or bone near to the headstock for the string to tension over. It's called the nut and it's where the scale length will start from. Pointless adding frets until you put that in, it'll never stay in tune.
