Given that the density of dry air is 1.2 kg / m3 and the density of water vapor is 0.72 kg / m3, it becomes apparent that moist air is lighter than dry.

In ventilation systems, this fact plays a big role. It is because of the fact that moist air is lighter than dry air, it is preferable to extract from the premises in the upper zone of the room (that is, under the ceiling).

The moisture that a person releases through breathing and sweating evaporates with air, moisturizing him. Exhausted moist air is concentrated in the upper zone. Consequently, exhaust air must be drawn from the upper zone.

RE: Method of purifying indoor air

It seems to me that your design is similar to a cleanroom. You might want to study such and maybe incorporate your ideas into an existing cleanroom design.

Airflow and air exchange rate is an important part of the system.

https://www.cedengineering.com/userfiles/HVAC%20Design%20for%20Cleanroom%20Facilities.pdf

Scott

RE: Method of purifying indoor air

Experimental verification.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.3074798419251656&type=3

Initial stage.

[View:/resized-image/__size/620x465/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-1d43e653-da7b-4674-a794-022965c26ae3/4682.contentimage_5F00_207012.jpg:620:465]

RE: Method of purifying indoor air

A 3D model of a person coughing in an indoor environment – how an aerosol cloud travels in the air

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs0hGe4ffC4

RE: Method of purifying indoor air

Hi Victor,

I can see that you have created an electric field between the ceiling and the floor but how are you imposing a charge on the particles in the air and the biological particles that are being exhaled. The pathogens do not automatically come charged so there has to be some way to charge them before they can interact with the field produced by the potential difference from the ceiling to the floor. One observation is that since the people are standing on the floor the charge of the floor would possible be transferred to them and if any pathogens from them had a charge they would be attracted to the ceiling and not the floor. They would have to fight the pull of gravity. The kinetic energy of the air molecules produce a barrier as well to the travel of particles through the environment. We can see this in the observation of leaves falling from the trees and their slow path to the ground. If there is any wind they can remain suspended in the air for a considerable amount of time and even travel upwards against the pull of gravity. The point of this is that while your idea has some merits the messy part of the real physical world would not allow any absolutes and all beneficial effects would have to be long term as in an empty room and still air as opposed to in an environment with people passing through and constantly recontaminating the space.

I really liked that you had worked on coming up with a way to help people. There is some potential for your idea to be helpful under some circumstances. There are some air filtration systems that use static charge to filter out particles in the air. Keep innovating and don't be discouraged.

John

RE: Method of purifying indoor air

Model suggests how airborne coronavirus particles spread in grocery store aisles

https://www.livescience.com/how-coronavirus-spreads-grocery-stores.html?fbclid=IwAR2e6yl_GgXm6zi4NfftGkNnaPtB2tx2JsS_ICP…

RE: Method of purifying indoor air

Therefore, it will be absolutely safe for people in the middle of such a room

Sorry, I can't see this being a correct statement.
